Kidney Detox - The 5 Essential Items You'll Need For Success

If you're planning a kidney detox, you'll want to know these 5 essential items to incorporate into your kidney detox plan. We'll look at the benefits of drinking water and cranberry juice, taking corn silk, dandelion and marshmallow. By incorporating at least 1 or 2 of these into your kidney detox you are going to seriously improve how your kidney function. This will in turn give you a greater sense of well-being.

1) Water

All natural health therapists say drink plenty of water. But why drink so much water? Water is the most essential item when detoxing. Drinking a decent amount of water (5-6 large glasses a day) will help your kidneys perform to their maximum ability. Water helps your kidneys balance body fluids, regulate salt levels and excrete toxins and waste.

It's entirely up to you what sort of water you choose to drink; the best choice is filtered tap water so that you have already removed any bacteria or chemicals. If you opt for mineral water just be aware that too much fizz could cause bloating and unattractive burping!

2) Cranberries

Cranberries are fruits that help to reduce the risk of urinary tract infections. If you are prone to urine infections you could incorporate drinking plenty of cranberry juice into your kidney detox plan. There are no official recommended levels of cranberry juice intake on a detox, but a couple of large glasses would be good. An untreated urine infection can have a more serious effect on the kidneys turning a minor aliment into a potentially more serious one.

You can squeeze fresh cranberries or there are cranberry capsules available.

3) Corn Silk

Corn silk can be found in various herbal remedies and needs to be taken according to the label instructions. Corn silk helps to flush out the urinary tract and encourages the healthy function of the kidneys.

4) Dandelion

Dandelion can also help improve the function of the kidneys as well as fluid retention. It comes in the form of leaves or root and is found in chemists and health food stores. Seek advice before including it into your detox routine to ensure it's suitable for you.

5) Marshmallow

Marshmallow (not the squashy sugar variety) also helps to cleanse the kidneys and aids the removal of excess fluids. You can take marshmallow in a variety of forms ranging from herbal supplements to dried flowers in tea.

By incorporating a combination of one or all of these items into your kidney detox plan you are going to be giving your kidneys the best possible chance to function properly thus giving you a greater overall feeling of well being.
