How To Detox Your Body - What to Eat

There are a variety of different detox diets and regimes that are on the market. Some companies make a lot of money out of the demand for healthy living. But the basics of how to detox your body are very simple. If you are on a short (one or two week) detox you should eat healthier foods and avoid toxin-producing foods. You can then use this as a basis for making permanent healthy changes to the type of foods that you eat.

Fruit

Eat plenty of fruit. The best way to eat it is fresh, but you can also obtain them frozen or canned in their own juice. Avoid tinned fruit in syrup.

You can eat the fruit whole or you can use a juicer. Juicing is a tasty way to get the best nutritional value out of both fruit and vegetables.

Fruit smoothies are a popular modern way to enjoy fruit. It is also easy to fit into your lifestyle as they make an ideal breakfast or lunch accompaniment. They are also great as an alterative to coffee.

Vegetables

A good variety of vegetables should also be eaten. These include leafy green vegetables such as spinach, cabbage and broccoli. Salad vegetables are also an important source of nutrients. Some people prefer to eat them raw but they can also be prepared as a soup.

Pulses and Nuts

Other foods that you should include in your diet include pulses (beans) such as haricot beans, black-eyed beans and lentils. You should also include unsalted nuts such as almonds, cashews, pumpkin seeds and walnuts.

Here is an example of how you can put these detox foods into a diet plan for the day.

Healthy Drinks

Drink plenty of water during your detox. This is how to detox your body by flushing the impurities out. Aim to have about 2 liters a day, that's about 8 glasses. Hot water with a slice of lemon is an excellent detoxifier. Herbal teas are a good way to increase the volume of liquid being taken if you can't stand the blandness of water.

Foods to Avoid

You should avoid red meat, dairy products, alcohol and caffeine containing drinks. This includes coffee, tea and cola drinks. All carbonated drinks should be avoided. Wheat containing foods should be reduced or not eaten at all. These include bread, pizza and pasta.

By following this basic guide to how to detox your body, you should be able to formulate your own healthy detox diet.

In the longer term, you may want to think about making some permanent changes to your diet. Here are some quick tips so that your detox cleansing diet is more of a lifestyle change rather than just a one-off event.
