Detox Foods - What to Eat On Your Detox Diet
Many people wonder what type of food to eat on their detox diet. Here are some simple examples that you can use to start your detox with. Remember to try to get fruit and vegetables that are as fresh as possible and ideally organic.
Breakfast
Create a large bowl of mixed fruit to start the day. This will be easy for the body to digest and gives the liver a boost to get rid of toxins. Choose from apples, bananas, pineapple, watermelon, grapes, blueberries and strawberries. Why not choose some fruits that you do not usually eat, such as exotic tropical fruit. If you feel like adding some texture you can top the fruit with sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds. You can finish your breakfast with some freshly squeezed juice.
Lunch
Create a large raw salad to eat. You can chop, grate or tear your salad vegetables. There is no limit to the vegetables that you can choose. Here are some that have been used successfully by other people: tomatoes, lettuce, mushrooms, red peppers, carrots, beetroot, baby corn, avocado and zucchini (courgettes).
You can add extra flavor and nutritional value by topping the salad with sprouted seeds and fresh herbs. Add some pumpkin, sesame or sunflower seeds to add some texture to the meal. Then dress it with a salad dressing made from olive oil and cider vinegar.
Evening Meal
Your evening meal should consist of lightly cooked vegetables. They can either be steamed or lightly stir-fried in a little olive oil. They should still remain crunchy, and not be overcooked. There is a wide variety of vegetables that you can choose from. Pick your favorite four or so from the following list: mushrooms, carrots, zucchini, mange tout, Chinese cabbage, spinach, baby sweetcorn, sugar snaps, sweet peppers, sprouted seeds (bean shoots).
You can add some tamari or soy sauce for additional favor and add some pine nuts, pumpkin or sunflowers seeds. You can finish the meal with some fruit. An unusual tropical fruit like Sharon fruit makes a good 'dessert'.
