Detox Exercises
Although diet is an important part of your detox, there are other elements as well. One of these is taking exercise. You don't have to be a fitness freak or start jogging around the streets to get benefit from exercise. No matter what your age or level of experience, there is a method that will help you.
Exercise is an important part of your detox plan because it improves the circulation and helps the body to eliminate waste products. Sweating is also a way for the body to get rid of toxins. There have been numerous studies that have demonstrated an effect on the emotions as well as on a physical level. People suffering from depression have found it to be beneficial and it is often recommended for people suffering from stress.
The important thing is to take some exercise during your detox that is appropriate to your level of fitness. A brisk walk out in the fresh air will be beneficial to most people. Some people may also like to go swimming, which provides a good way to build stamina and work out tense muscles. However, don't use your detox as a time to suddenly start any strenuous exercise like weight training or long-distance running.
Another set of exercises that you may find useful is practicing yoga techniques. These are excellent for improving flexibility. This discipline combines stretching and holding techniques together with breathing techniques. To become truly proficient takes some practice but even the complete novice can derive some benefit from the exercises.
Other techniques that you may find useful during your detox include Tai Chi and Pilates. Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese form of 'soft' martial art. It has become widely adopted throughout the world in recent years as a way for aging babyboomers to regain their health and vitality. Pilates is a system of conditioning and stretching movements that involve both the mind and body.
You could use your detox as a time to learn more about one of these disciplines. There are plenty of DVD's and books on these subjects.
