The first thing you need to decide on is the timing of your detox. Try to choose a time where you don't have a lot of things going on in your life.

Many people like to choose a weekend or a period when they have a few days holiday from work. This will allow you to concentrate on your own health without too much interruption from the outside world.

Plan to get all the food and equipment that you'll need in advance of your detox. Fruit and vegetables are best fresh so try and get these the day before your detox begins. Make sure you have a new cartridge for your water filter and plenty of fruit or herbal tea.

Aromatherapy oils can be wonderfully relaxing and give your home a lovely fragrance. They can be used in a burner or added to the bath. Popular oils include lavender, ylang-ylang, tea tree, and sandalwood.

In the few days before the start of your detox, try to run down the stocks of food that you will not be eating during your detox. This includes cookies, chips and chocolate. If the food is not in the house, there will be less temptation for you.

In addition to the practical preparation, you should also mentally prepare for your detox. This involves thinking about and writing down the goals that you want to achieve by going on your detox. This will help you stay focused if things start getting tough.

Set an end date to finish for your detox. Dont go mad and eat lots of junk food when you end your detox. Plan on coming off your diet gently.
